The way I see it, if you want something to change, you can’t just hope someone else will fight for it. We have to stand up for what we believe in together.
That’s how this initiative On The Ball kicked off. Three football fans with a similar goal. Free period products, for every female fan, at every football ground.
Period products are as essential as soap and toilet roll, so they started campaigning and you know what, it worked. Clubs all over Scotland joined up.
And they are not the only ones. There are many initiatives all around Scotland standing up for periods. Standing up for anyone who’s been too afraid to stand up - in case they’ve leaked on their chair.
Because in Scotland we believe that it’s fundamental to dignity, equality and human rights. That’s why we were the first country in the world to make period products available in every school, college and university, and now we’re making them available in other places within the community. But we are just getting started. Our goal is to continue to make period products more accessible to those who need them.
Now, no matter where we are, or what we’re doing, there’s no stopping us.
